Itinerary

We begin at the Dovedale car park and follow the River Dove along the base of Thorpe Cloud. We will then cross the famous Dovedale Stepping Stones, first built in the late 19th century, and enter the Dovedale National Nature Reserve. Next, we pass Loverโ€™s Leap. Legend says a woman, believing her beloved died in the Napoleonic Wars, survived her leap from the rock when she was caught by branches, only to find her lover had also survived. Across the river, we will see the Twelve Apostles, a pinnacle limestone formation jutting out from the valley side. From here, we re-enter the Dovedale Nature Reserve, making our way across grassy fields. We will stay higher up, following the edge high above the valley to enjoy great views down into the reserve. Finally, we head along the slopes of Bunster Hill to return to the car park, and our journey home to Outdoor Recreation Molesworth.
