Private Organization & Unofficial Activities
Are you an organization that would like to raise funds on base? Are you interested in finding out how you can help out in the community? Becoming a private organization or becoming a member is a great way to help out the community.
What is Unoffical Activity
Unofficial activities/organizations are small groups that are not required to be formally established as Private Organization because their current assets (including cash, investments, inventory and receivables) do not exceed a monthly average of $1,000 over a three month period (AFI 34-223 Section 2. 2.2.).
What is a Private Organization
Private Organizations are self-sustaining, special interest groups set up by people acting exclusively outside the scope of any official capacity as officers, employees or agents of the federal government.
They operate on Air Force installations with the written consent of the Installation Commander (AFI 34-223 Section A.1.).
Private Organizations are not Federal entities and are not to be treated as such. Accordingly, they are not NAF instrumentalities (NAFIs) as defined in AFI 34-201, Use of Nonappropriated Funds, nor are they entitled to the sovereign immunities and privileges given to NAFIs or the Air Force (AFI 34-223 Section A.1. 1.1).
Examples of a Private Organization are:
Squadron Booster Clubs
Unit Advisory Committees
Spouse Clubs
Special Interest Groups

Becoming a Private Organization
The Private Organization Office is here to assist any group interested in establishing themselves as a Private Organization at RAF Alconbury and RAF Molesworth.
We encourage you to read information provided on this site that will help you become an officially recognized Private Organization.
Because Private Organizations operate on Air Force installations with the written authorization of the Installation Commander, Air Base Group, the Private Organization Office acts as a liaison between Private Organization members in the community, the Legal Office, 423d Force Support Squadron Commander and the 423d Air Base Group Commander to gather all documentation set up for group establishment as a Private Organization.
Once established, the Private Organization office will maintain a file on each Private Organization and throughout the year, will review each Private Organization to ensure all financial statements, documents, records and procedures outlined in the Private Organization Guide are followed and the organizations are in compliance with Air Force Instructions and Operating Instructions.
In order for a group to become a registered Private Organization at RAF Alconbury or RAF Molesworth, contact the Private Organization Office.
