Miles & Maintenance- Rutland Water

Enjoy a guided tour of one of the UK’s most beautiful reservoirs and gain a hands-on experience in bike maintenance and trail safety.

$25pp includes 24-mile bike ride around Rutland Water, transportation, bike & helmet rental, and expert guide.

Open to ages 14+ | Must be able to ride a bike independently.

Trip Itinerary:

09:00: Meet at RAF Molesworth for a trip overview, waiver check, and briefing.

09:30: Depart for Rutland Water.

10:00: Arrive at Normanton Car Park. Learn bike setup, discuss the history of Normanton Church, and use the amenities.

11:30H – 12:40 (Approx.): Cycle the beautiful reservoir path, making stops to cover key cycling topics, local landmarks, and nature exploration:

• Sykes Lane: Learn about gears; discover amenities (beach, mini golf) for future visits.

• Whitwell: Discuss tire care, pressure, and puncture checks.

12:40-1350: Lunch Break! Enjoy your packed lunch, purchase food from a café, or take an optional boat trip on the Rutland Belle (at own cost).

1350-1400: Rejoin the group and check bikes.

1400: Bike ride continues.

• • Barnsdale: Discuss road safety and group riding protocols for the short road section.
  • Egleton Nature Reserve: Explore the nature reserve, go birdwatching, and identify local wildlife.

15:30: Return to Normanton Car Park. Learn post-ride bike checks and how to use a bike rack.

16:00: Arrive back at RAF Molesworth. Clean bikes and complete post-trip admin.
